RC3: LMB+Wheel to zoom in/out in fullscreen mode

I'm a new user of this amazing program and since my computer is an old intel 866Mhz I'm pretty much concern about usability and speed.

Breafly, is it possible to add an option in the "view-keyboard/mouse" to allow to zoom in and out in the fullscreen mode using left button+wheel to zoom in and out. In this way I can use the wheel normaly to go to the next/previous picture, and in association with the left botton to zoom in and out.

And then what do you think to remove the selection box after the zoom is done, so it can be possible to choose immediatly another zone to zoom?

thanks, and very nice job

You can press and hold Ctrl while spinning the mousewheel to zoom in and out. Not enough?

I like your idea. Added to More hotkeys, shortcuts... list.

I agree. Nice idea too.

I prefer it like it is because I like to select areas for cropping in fullscreen
mode. Changing this behavior would make fullscreen selection much more
difficult on pictures larger than desktop resolution. Making selections in
fullscreen is better because there is more space to work with. Please
consider that some users have used Xnview for a long time as mainly
and editor/converter. This would diminish that function a little.

I do agree on this very issue, yes. But marsh marsh has a valid point. So i'd leave it alone for now.

This might be helpful for some users. But as marsh has pointed out, already: How would you zoom in and keep your selection? E.g. you might have made a selection and just want to verify it and fine tune it. So you zoom in and want to correct it...

It's a rule in user interface design, that you follow the users expectations. The expectation here is that "Zooming" does zooming in, and nothing else. Loosing selection would be no good for this reason.

So I also vote for keeping the existing behaviour.

Yes. People will get a knot in their fingers...

I have no problem clicking with the index and scrolling with the middle finger, I'd prefer this rather than having to hold the ctrl key with my other hand :D
As for the selection box I think I prefer how it is now, ie not loosing it after a zoom in/out so I agree with Marsh and Helmut.

Maybe it is tricky, but you get use to it, and imagine, as it is my case, that sometime you have only a wireless mouse in your hand and the keyboard is far from you so there is no possibility to press ctrl. you can then control everythink with the mouse.

If it's easy to implement, add it please, if someone don't want to use it, no problem...

Or maybe RMB+wheel ?

I like, it remember me a program I use when I work with protien modeling, where there is a similar combination of buttons to reset the position and center it on the screen.
