This would be a great feature, very helpful to people who produce Audio visual sequences & need the correct order when loading into proshow gold & the likes
I know faststone has the feature but does not batch rename in sequence

But in the dialog "Batch rename" there are buttons ^ and V at the right of the list that allow changing the order of the files. Think this is what you wanted.
