Request - Zoom on selected area - into FullScreenMode
Hello,
It would be interesting to have the ability to zoom a selected area (into the FullScreenMode only, because reserved for CROP in the View Mode) , by sketching a rectangle, then release the mouse button, for fitting the image area to the window (fit image to window "zoom function")
Image
So when the mouse button is released --> fit the clear image area at the center of the screen and fill the rest by respecting the height/weight screen ratio (4/3, 16/9,...)

Zooming to about 90% might be better than 100% though.

This is the only feature that prevents me from switching to XNView from ACDSee

When is view mode (with toolbars and status bars etc) and Full screen mode can the option be added to select an area and the click to zoom that area to full screen (not 90%) the same as done in ACDSee

Thanks.

Maybe 100% by default & ##% as option ?

Hello,
...In this case the best solution is for all mode: Preview Browser mode, View mode & FullScreen mode.
And for me the first solution is more ergonomic than the second one :
1-) by mouse sketching the rectangle, then releasing the left mouse button ---> for fitting the image area to the window (fit image to window "zoom function")
than
2-) by mouse sketching a rectangle, then releasing the left mouse button, then new left mouse click into this area --> for fitting the image area to the window (fit image to window "zoom function")

PS: ...And if the Crop function is selected in View Mode, this zoom function can be automatically disabled .

Hello,
Now within the XnViewMP 0.35 version, this "user friendly" and useful functionality works almost perfectly (mouse Zoom IN --> Zoom on selected area - into FullScreenMode and View Mode), congratulation Pierre.

But one thing is terribly missing (a similar way to do the opposite function with the mouse too "on one clique" - A fast Zoom Out)
So, I would also like to have an useful and efficient way to Zoom OUT , and I think than a single left mouse clique to Zoom out by fitting the image to the window is the best and the more ergonomic solution to do That. (similar to the hotkey "/")
PS: This new mouse functionality/behavior can also be done via a custom option only or as default
What is the opinion of the others users?

Well, the current feature is only "half" implemented. The user certainly needs an equally fast/easy method of returning to the previous zoom level.

Or did I miss something important about the UI for this feature?

One of my favorite tools, Rhino 3D, has a separate undo stack for view changes (independent of modeling changes).

Perhaps XnView would benefit from a View->Undo function.

Right, it's exactly what I mean.

So if we mouse button is used to zoom in the selection made, how to zoom out? Single click?

Hello,
Yes, it's the most efficient way

1--> mouse button used to zoom in the selection --> zoom in
2--> single left click to fit the image to the window --> fast zoom out

PS: about: (Left click zooms in, right click zooms out?)
We already have the mouse scroll for that , and the popup menu (right mouse), so I think it's not necessary
