XnView 1.81 Wish List

- Change Zoom in Fixed Steps for Fullscreen modes.

- One Easy Option to cripple XnView's access to ALL video file types (avi, divx, mpg. mov) I want it so XnView treats the file as though it has no extension at all.

- XnView Shell Extension 64-bit edition
- Use XnView as a DVD player by using Gabest's opensource MPEG2 video decoder and AC3 audio decoder.
- XnView's internal player should disable screensaver while playing and re-activate the screensaver after playing has finished.

- Minimise XnView to the system tray
- Assign key "M" as a super fast way to minimise XnView to the taskbar or system tray (same as IrfanView)

- XnView Downloads available via bittorents.
- XnView Downloads available as 7-Zip or RAR archives.
- Separate Skins from main package -> skins package
- Start a major push to get more authors to create skins for XnView

- An option to disable "Quick Slide Show" completely (eg. like 1.74)

- Treelist Folders -> Command Prompt (using either cmd.exe or command.com for that folder)
- Double clicking on the space next to a open tab opens an empty tab for loading files through the Open toolbar button or drag and drop files there. Again this behaviour is like Firefox.

- AAC/MP4 Audio playback in Internal and External Players.

- Parent Folder icon ".." has only one unique icon for everything, instead of having either a drive icon or folder icon.
- Option to Remove the Parent Folder icon ".." completely (users switch to using "Up one level" function or Backspace key)

- Folder Tabs: Inactive Tabs can have different background colours and text colours.
- Folder Tabs and Toolbars: Dockable (top, left, right, botom)
- Open With: Edit Program entry (Rename or Change Location) and Remove Single Program entry
- Screensavers made with XnView can be exited with mouse or keyboard IF timer is being used.
- Use External File Archiver:- WinRAR, WinZIP or 7-Zip

If it is possible to be added a calendar view (like ACDSee 7) that you can use to organize and browse your files according to their associated dates.

Random Order Viewing

Hi Everybody!

As I have not seen it on the "new feature" list for 1.80 RC2, I want to restate my interest in a "random order viewing" feature as stated in this thread: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=1384.

I *really* want that feature! ;-)

Thanks to all who make xnView possible!

Why a separate wishlist if this whole forum is (also) made for requests for future versions?

@ewerybody: not currently possible, but i have requested and pierre says not for 1.80, so presumably for 1.81.

I'd love to see some of the features of ACDsee 4 in Xnview more or less the feature for from one of the tabs. I can't recall it's name cause it's not loaded at this pooint on my machine but I could find out. It gives a different view that is like an editing view or detailed view and the the thumbs are set below the pic you are looking at. I thought that feature was very nice and was sadly removed from ACDsee and replaced by other features that I care about.

Also I think I remember skin support in XnView but I am not sure. Maybe you just have toolbar themes.

Good luck on the next version

User-specified program icon

Let the user choose which icon XnView shows in the system tray and the taskbar.

The latest version of Winamp lets you do this. In the options or preferences, you choose the icon by sliding a bar. When you slide the bar, the icon changes. Stop the bar on the icon you want, and that one will display whenever the program is open.

Right now in XnView, you can only choose icons for shortcuts (desktop, start menu, quick launch, etc.). You can't choose them for the taskbar and system tray.

 WOW heavy stuff. If all of these would be in 1.81 it would be more like 1.9 :D

:) Hello !

- I explained that already here if you can read French…
- If you can't, for short :
- Use Total Commander , i.e., to make the associations and / or / change the icons like you wish:
Files menu >> Associate With… >> Edit type >> Change icon[>>] = "Browse" button to choose the folder where you icons are located.

 Kind regards,
Claude

I meant... it would be nice to change icons, without using any external program ( "total commander", ...)
Indeed, "merci beaucoup" for your suggestion

Claude,
you're a lazy guy… who never stops helpin' fiends !

Suggestions

Congratulation. You have done a great job.
I have to make some suggestions from functions I have use and like in other programs

List view like Exifer, where you can choose the fields you want to see.
Suggestions for IPTC – EXIF.
·In the excellent IPTC searching tool it is very useful to add city and country data and if is possible various IPTC data (like PixVue, the best searching tool).
·Also option that the IPTC editor can be in a not tabbed window, to see everything at once and to avoid mistakes.
·In Date created you can add apart from now and yesterday the camera value according to EXIF date.
·Changing the EXIF date – time it could be nice, when you forget to insert the correct date – time after changing batteries.

A missing way---

:) Hello !
- Thank you !
- Indeed, I got that you meant, but this is impossible currently in XnView…
- The icon-set is embedded in the EXE, and AFAIK one can't state an external customized icon-library *.icl instead the embedded one.
- It shan't be a big deal to add this, I think… Just a variable entry to add in the INI file for the user.
- You could request such a feature. What about register here ? It's easier to post, then edit … change your messages  ?

 Kind regards,
Claude
