Is nconvert processing parallel in case of multiple threads?

Hi,
Is nConvert multi-threaded?
I want to know if multiple threads running nConvert command (to convert given AI file to JPEG) are started at the same time, will they run in parallel?
How can i concretely prove that this indeed occurs in parallel?
Will all threads complete conversion at the same time?
Or does each thread wait for other to complete before proceeding?
If this result any different if the input file to each thread is common? (i.e. all threads trying to do nconvert at the same time on the same file)
Please clarify.
thanks
