hello again,

In the browser it is great that we can assign own desire application's to be launched for files on a right click


Now I think once a custo user's app has been added - that a window could appear that would show it in a list of added program's like this:

... But the icons in the window's manager should instead be at 16x16 since the icons aren't important or perhaps an option to flip the display of icons.

Although not as important as the other feature requests, I feel this would be another great enhancement worth adding to XnMP.

No I was talking about a little small window manager should exist to manage all assigned program's. A window manager to configure the associated programs.

Currently to delete an assigned program in the right-click menu, the user has to click on 'Clear' when this only clears all the assigned program's on the right-click. So a small window manager to configure all assigned program's against file-types would be good.

I made this to show you what I mean things could look like:




Options in this window should include:

- Rename
- Delete
- Select all (cursor)
- Manual drag Arrange up/down
- Display names as: filename or file description

Are there any XnView MP users (the Browser) who have a comment about this proposal? Does anyone agree/disagree with it?

I do wish that XnView replaces the OS, since it seems too complex!
It would be sufficient for "Clear" is used to select the program-s to delete and not all like now! This only added in the programs, of course.

I strongly support budz45's suggestion, both as a matter of principle and as a matter of functionality. A dialog to manage external applications (such as the one budz45 has offered) should be considered de rigeur.

The minimal additional functionality needed is the ability to "clear" any one specific program. Reordering the list, ability to edit parameters, change the icon... these would also be useful.

Partial implementation of functionality just makes a tool seem (to the user) either incomplete or shoddily implemented. Not a good impression, in either case.

My goal is not to be negative at all costs the idea!
but:
1 - If there is opportunity management, I think it must be done within the program and only for the program!
2 - This is not something that can change frequently, it seems to me that the settings should be in the settings window. Possibly in a specific tab, see the link with personalized list if possible with an option "Default" to return to a starting state!
3 - The right click menu should remain as simple and as clear as possible, which is the case except to add remove programs (no choice)

Only the first point seems to me essential!
The others are more related to the clarity, ease of handling and this is true, user needs!

1- Si, il y a possibilité de gestion, je pense qu'elle doit se faire à l'intérieur du programme et seulement pour le programme !
2- Ce n'est pas quelque chose que l'on change fréquemment, il me semble donc que le paramétrage devrait se faire dans la fenêtre des paramètres. Éventuellement dans un onglet spécifique, voir le lien avec Liste personnalisé et si possible avec une option "Par défaut" pour revenir à un état de départ !
3- Le menu clic droit devrait rester le plus simple et le plus clair possible, ce qui est le cas sauf pour Supprimer les programmes ajouter (pas le choix!)
Seul le premier point me semble fondamental !
Les autres sont plutôt liés à la clarté, à la facilité de manipulation et cela est vrai, aux besoins des utilisateurs !

Perhaps it depends on your definition of "frequently"... but I change my launch menu to test new graphics software relatively "frequently", so more functionality would be appreciated.

Your point about simplicity is a good one, however and also, we should not urge Pierre to prioritize this request at the top of the list.

Nevertheless, do you see any better UI paradigm for deleting a single item than the example budz45 has offered above? Perhaps you have a suggestion how to implement that functionality without a dialog...?

Implementing a page (with data grid) in the Options + linking directly to that page via an "Open" sub-menu item would be an acceptable compromise, IMO.

For an unsophisticated user, "Add and Delete" may well no longer be in this menu. The Settings window allows configuration of associations with the display of selected programs!
For a user, it is clear that the solution advocated budz45 is much more realistic. It is much more difficult to manage if it also affects the associations of other programs on the PC. If this is not the case then the solution is just replace the window "Add Program" and it will warn the user not to understand the operation.

Pour un utilisateur non avertis, "Ajouter et supprimer" pourraient très bien ne plus figurer dans ce menu. La fenêtre Paramètres permettant une configuration des associations avec l'affichage des programmes choisis !
Pour un utilisateur avertis, il est évident que la solution que préconise budz45 est nettement plus réaliste. Elle est cependant beaucoup plus difficile à gérer si elle agit aussi sur les associations des autres programmes du PC. Si ce n'est pas le cas alors la solution proposée ne fait que remplacer la fenêtre "Ajouter programme" et ce sera à l'utilisateur non avertis dans comprendre le fonctionnement.
