Folder tree doesn't refresh for Favourites

I am using XnView 1.97.4 with XP SP3 and I wish to use it as my main file manager, etc, instead of Explorer.
I often use Favourites (blue star icon) to get to folders quickly.
However, if the folder tree (left panel) is long, the chosen folder is likely not to be visible. That is, the tree does not refresh (move) to show the current folder.
This is a pest since the Favourite I selected is usually not the folder I want, but merely one nearby. So, I need to drag the tree up/down to find the selected one and then select the one desired.
Could XnView be arranged to always auto-scroll to reveal the chosen folder when using the Favourites icon?
Thanks
Robin
