Incorrect sizing for large files (AVI)

XnView version 1.97.4 in XP SP3, display the following sizes for various AVI files:
1) files of 636 MB, 1.53 GB and 2.33 GB (values from Windows Explorer) are shown correctly in XnView
2) a file of 5.55 GB is shown as 1.55 GB
3) a file of 6.46 GB is shown as 2.46 GB**
4) a file of 12.5 GB is shown as only 584 MB
The values indicated in XnView's Preview > Properties (bytes) correspond to its values in the Size column.
In version 1.97.2 they didn't!

** Note that the 6.46 GB file seems out of place in the sequence. This may be due to it being a Huffyuv-AVI whereas the others are all DV-AVI.

The DV-AVI files were created by Adobe Premiere Pro, at 12.5 GB/hour, and are identical to files from a DV Camera.
Notice that all the above files are relatively short -- no more than 1 hour in duration!

Huffyuv are 3x larger per hour! If its value is confusing, ignore it since I rarely use Huffyuv and can live without it.

Please fix
Thanks
Robin

This problem is still there in 1.97.5

Thanks for trying!
Version 1.97.6 still gives the values above for these 'uncompressed' AVI files, mostly DV AVI.
They are not large for DV AVI, the largest being less than 1 hour.
Interestingly, XnView gives the correct duration on the Preview!

Out of curiosity, last week I searched for other Apps like XnView and found only 2 worth looking at, both costing much more.
1) FileSee, which gave correct file sizes but could not play many video formats, etc, and crashed on a Huffyuv AVI.
2) XYplorer, which also gave correct file sizes but cannot Screen capture, image edit or show Thumbnails for video files!

Hence, XnView is still the best by far and would be even better if the sizes were correct!

Where do you see the incorrect filesize?

The incorrect sizes are given in column 'Size' in XnView.
The correct size is got from Explorer and read in Adobe Premiere and in MediaInfo (a freebie), etc.

I have kept the above 6 files on my HDD for testing XnView!

Thanks, Pierre.
I have just tried 1.97.7 and there was an improvement.
Compared to Explorer, all AVI files up to 6.46 GB were correct (previously only up to 2.33 GB).
However, the 1 hour AVI of 12.5 GB is shown as only 584 MB (Mega bytes)!
Hope this will be fixed in next version !

I have just checked version 1.97.8.
There was a slight improvement from the above, the 12.5 GB file (AVI) now shows as 4.57 GB -- all others (above) are correct.

However, whenever the folder with these files is opened XnView crashes with the Windows message: "XnView has encountered a problem ... sorry ...".

Excellent !! All files up to 13 GB were correct.

The XnView folder seems to be a Stand alone ? Just for the beta versions?

As a further check, I captured some stuff to get a 33 GB file (AVI) and its size was correct in XnView !!!
