"View as" & filmstrip layout

Each time you leftclick the "View as" icon, the view is pushed to the next list entry of the ComboBox.

:bug: The first list entry seems to be the actually selected thumbnail view. I don't know exactly because the list is invisible.
In my case it's the Filmstrip layout.
When I step through the whole list and then return at the first entry, I want the filmstrip layout back - but I get something like layout 4.

To get back the filmstrip, I have to reselect it from the main menu. :(

"View As" and Layouts are two completely different features.
You can't get the Filmstrip layout or any layout by using "View As" or F9.

Yes, that's like it should be - but it isn't :!:

When I'm in layout=6 (filmstrip) and press <F9> or leftclick on "View as",
the layout immidiatly changes to =4.
Now I have to reselect my favorite layout =6!

I hope that's a bug, otherwise it's a very bad behaviour. :?

BTW: I thought that I've declared this thread as [Bug:] - looks like somebody edited it.

Looks as if Pierre has edited the subject (not sure why).

Filmstrip layout is only a real filmstrip layout when it shows thumbnails. This is probably why Pierre made the view change when changing the layout. That's the problem you are experiencing.

The problem is that filmstrip layout is unlike the other layouts. Film strip is actually not a real layout, it's something else. I guess the typical usage is switching from their favourite layout to film strip layout and back. So perhaps the handling should be different from the other layouts. For example a separator and perhaps a different/clearer symbol would help.

Doesn't matter who was the "Notme" ... :P

OK - that's one kind of interpretation.

I'll try to describe it in other words:
When changing "View as", it starts in a specified layout.
There must be an entry, which leads back to that starting layout.
In any case, when the user jumps topdown through the whole list, lately after the bottom entry he must be back in the initial layout!

No, on the contrary: he made the layout change when changing the view.

Right.

@xnview:

IF
- "Use XP style menus" is activated and I cycle through "View as" to go back to thumbnail view
THEN
- it doesn't return to Filmstrip layout (it stays in layout 4)
ELSE
- it returns to Filmstrip layout
ENDIF

But nevertheless, this "View as" thing is still buggy.
Pierre, please play a little bit around with it. If you click the ComboBox entries randomly, you will find out that there is more wrong, regardless the state of "Use XP style menus".

WOW, this thing is really weird!
It seems that it isn't only infected by the state of "Use XP style menus".
I've tried hard to recover (describe) this behaviour, but I can't find a regularity. :(

Well, Pierre - I think you've got it! :D Thanks!

Hey, that doesn't look bad! I think Aokromes is happy, too. :D
