Copy comment into iptc data

Hi guys,
xnview is a great tool, but maybe i have a misunderstanding of some features:
#1: I like to use IPTC tagging (keyword field to use the list function) to be independent of any future application. So I tried to use the search function and found out, that xnview is very slow on IPTC data search. Then I thought that it will be a good idea to copy the IPTC keyword field into the comment field because this content is in the database (I am right?) and then I can search based on the database which should be faster. BUT the copy works only with the IPTC caption field! Any idea how to copy the IPTC keyword field into the comment field ? I am right that the keyword search based on comments is faster?

#2: How to set the ctrl i default view from "caption" to "keywords" ? This helps a lot if you are tagging lots of pictures :D

thanks and best regards
joe

No comment is no in the DB
XnViewMP can search more quickly on IPTC keywords

Piere,

thanks for your very fast reply.
To be honest, I searched a lot to get a better understanding about the strategy of XnViewMP but I am still struggeling.
I love to work with XnView but I have the feeling that the MP version is in beta such a long time. Working with a beta version on my real data does not make me happy. Is there a functionality comparison between XnView and the MP version in work? Will, and when, XnViewMP replace XnView?
Would be great to get some general information abot XnViewMP and then I am more than happy to move to XnViewMP.

Please, don't misunderstand me. I appreciate your fantastic work and I am a great fan of XnView and the community!

Best regards
Joe

P.S: I will install XnViewMP and test it with test data.

Yes it's a beta, changes in DB can occur, you can have bugs...

When XnViewMP will be v1 :-)

XnViewMP has some features that can't be added in XnView (unicode, XMP, better DB management, ...)

You can use XnView and XnViewMP

thanks!
I installed XnViewMP and found some differences (of course) to XnView and some strange behaviours.
I will test both and if I find something, I will post it (feedback, comments, "bugs") into the MP testforum.

BTW: faststone has a real nice feature: Sorting pictures into a new sequence, but not only for a slide-show.

So does XnViewMP! Try it!

Drag some thumbs around. The sequence you build is stored in the "Custom" sorting order. You can then sort by name or size or whatever, then return to the sequence you built at any time by selecting "Custom" sort.
