"Zoom -" crashes sometimes big images

A strange thing ...

I take a big image (e.g. 30 x 120 cm) - doubleclick it - XnView starts - displays the image, fitted to maximum with e.g. "7% Zoom" - press the icon "Zoom -" - some seconds happens nothing - then in the status bar appears "Zoom 524328 % - crash ... :shock:

This happens in office, at home I have no problems. It jumps from 9% to 7%, and then it stays without problems.

What happens here?

Just guessing the limits of machine are being reached. If so, limiting preview to smaller sized images might boost performance enough to get by. When looking at it in viewer, there can be two copies of image in use rather than one in MP beta.

Maybe that is one half of the problem - the crash.

Now I have a TIF, 84 kB, 32 * 94 cm, only view elements, displayed with 7%. Pressing "Zoom -" calcualtes a zoomfactor of "524796 %" and increases the RAM-usage +300 MB. Then I press "Zoom -" => "1600%" - 1590 - 1580 ...; and with 70% I can see details of the image again.

Confirmed. A crash often occurs whenever the fixed step is greater than zoom displayed and one is zooming out <->.

8965x12000 png; 7% in statusbar; 10% fixed step. Immediate crash.
3056x2292.jpg; 39% in statusbar; 50% fixed step. 4543317 in status bar.
3466x2600.png; 34% in statusbar; 50% fixed step; crash after memory use grows.
