UTF-8 characters in folder tree cause problems

Strange, but it looks like UTF-8 characters in folder names are not correctly processed. I have "CP1251" selected as default codepage for console application, but it should not hit xnview, right?

Flows:
1) Try to create a folder with F7, that contains unicode character (e.g. ü) - the symbol is displayed when entering the folder name, but disappears after the folder is created.
2) Create a folder in unicode application, e.g. in Explorer. Now xnview fails to navigate to this folder.

xnview 1.97.6.

XnView doesn't support unicode (only XnViewMP)

Thank you! Is there any feature-by-feature comparison of XnViewMP vs XnView?

How difficult would it be to support unicode? XnViewMP looks promising, but it still seems to be a fairly early beta, and last I tried it it didn't have nearly the features XnView does. Awaiting it eagerly, but would it be at all possible to support unicode in XnView in the meantime?

I'm going to work around the problem temporarily by creating junctions to directories (though this doesn't help me with filenames). ∴ I'd have the following:

Markéta Bělonohá -> Marketa Belonoha
Люба Шумейко -> Luba Shumeyko

But I really hate "Americanizing" things : \ Thanks!
