Images organize,search by metedata

Dear Sir
I am willing to pay money to have the capability to edit all metadata, XMP, IPTC,EXIF
I need to be able to add a lot of information about the subject of an image perhaps via XMP custom fields.
I am in process of making a free website about plants. i think the best way to organize/search the images is to have information about each plant in the metadata for that image. The alternative method is a database like mysql but that means a separation between the text and image which then means that errors can easily happen when making changes.
