Folder View of Tree

When I am looking at the TREE in the FOLDER view, I can NOT see, for example, an EXCEL file. I do not need XnView to open or read the file but it would be VERY helpful if I knew a folder had an excel file, or other file that XnView could not open or read. Is this possible ? Did I miss a setting ? Thanks so much for any help. I'm really liking this program.
