Steps to reproduce:
* Open the image with transparent background (in my case 16x16 PNG image)
* Change the background colour in Tools -> Options from default light grey (C0C0C0) to grey (808080).

Result: The selection is not visible anymore
Expected: The selection is visible

These are my settings:

[color=green]xnview.ini[/color] wrote:[View]
██ BackgroundColor=8421504 ~ #808080 ~ 128/128/128
██ CheckerColor1=8947848 ~ #888888 ~ 136/136/136
██ CheckerColor2=8421504 ~ #808080 ~ 128/128/128

I would also like to have a better solution.

• Possibility to change color of selection resize fields
