Thanks john for reporting and thanks XnTriq for linking my topic.
Yes the 'Empty tab' feature is still in it's infancy and I think Pierre is working hard on other bugs for MP but I have faith this issue will get resolved when Pierre is ready.
and yes a tickbox in settings like "Empty tabs: Always occupy these first" should be enabled by default
Request: The <no file> tab should be dynamic & be used

First of all, thank you so much Pierre for adding this initial feature (<Empty> tab

Right, for the above quoted I think a tickbox option that would go somewhere in the settings, something named like;
-
Empty tabs: Always occupy these first
so by enabling such this option, anytime a file is launched from the browser or elsewhere and an empty tab (<Empty>) is available, that first empty tab would be used first. Perhaps maybe this option should be ticked by default, perhaps not.
I think users would love it.

Ok, so upon
[4] of opening the Browser that the first sole 'Empty' tab should transform into becoming the Browser tab.

Yes, this would certainly integrate into my same related topic;

Actually after doing tests in MP 0.56 I think the "Superfluous" tab should stay because that Superfluous tab is to show that View mode is ready for drag & drop action.
So I don't think this is an issue.
