Hello,
I had been a bit disappointed when i tried the 0.26 last summer, because it lacked so many functions...

I just tried 0.32 and it's a lot better.

I tried "full screen" display using such data display configutration :

Code: Select all

{IPTC:Caption}
Photo prise le :{Date Digitized [Y-m-d à H-M-S]}  à :  {IPTC:City}/{IPTC:State}/{IPTC:Country}    par: {Model}
L*H: {Width}*{Height} Focale: {Focal Length}mm (équiv. 24*36 : {Focal Length 35mm}mm)  ISO {ISO Value},  {Exposure Time} à {F-Number},  corr.exp: {Exposure Bias}, {Flash}
{Size B} octets   {Directory}{Filename With Ext}

And I noticed the disappearance of all french characters, such as çèéàù, ê, and °, I did not try other "exotic" characters, but these ones are in the IPTC data of many of my pictures, and correctly displayed by Windows versions since 1.72 up to 1.97.
The special characters disappear only from the "Caption" text. In folder or file names, they are displayed normally.

Here is a "bad" picture, but with french accented characterss.
http://sebmortum.free.fr/images_publiqu ... 72_red.jpg

full screen : characters are not displayed
rigth click (explorer mode)> edit IPTC/XMP data : not displayed
IPTC tab in explorer mode : display ok, even for éèçà

( This picture is an exemple too for an other problem : this picture has been reduced because it's bad, but the thumnail has not been recomputed , despite the checkbox is checked. You can see it because of the black edges on the long sides of the thumbnail, only the original pictures of my Pentax-K200d have such stripes. )

The problem is with {IPTC:Caption} here for example?
You are on a french OS? Which setting for Option/Metadata>IPTC encoding?

My OS is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, localized as french, and has no problem with french accented characters for file/folder names.

In XnView MP, Option/Metadata>IPTC encoding is set to "ISO 8859-15", the same encoding I use in Seamonkey, browser *and* mail/newsgroups.
