Hi,

I just downloaded the recent XnView MP 0.33 and noticed the new design icon/logo :)

Right, I have also noticed in Win Explorer, title bar etc. that the 16x16 program icon displayed looks a little pixelated on closer inspection.

I have done my tests on XP sp3 and Vista sp1.

Look see can you see what I mean: It doesn't look as smooth as it should

I take an interest in icon design and windows icons in general so I went to the XnView MP program folder and extracted the program icon from of course xnview.exe then loaded that extracted .ico into XnView MP with the 'icon snapshot' feature enabled to produce this snapshot;

You see I somehow think that 80x80 and 128x128 sizes are unnecessary, not needed.

So I did a snapshot of Paint.NET's icon just to look at it

I then went back to looking at the new XnView icon so I went to the .icns new XnView icon and converted it to .ico with ease using Axialis IconWorkshop and removed the 80x80 and 128x128 sizes but added 64x64 size and also added 8bit and 4bit variations of the 16x16 and 32x32 then saved it. From the save this is the snapshot (download link below)

Ok maybe 80x80 and 128x128 could be retained but I was just trying to help in solving this 16x16 Win Explorer issue.

If this issue with the 16x16 can be fixed in spare time (no rush). Thank you.

Remember that mock-screenshot I made justn when the new icon was included in Mac OS XnMP version, well that same mock-screenshot shows the 16x16 better than an actual screenshot by a comparison;

perhaps this issue is related to compiling??

Ok, I altered the new 16x16 just a little bit by removing perceieved drop-shadow effect that was remained when originally vector downsized to 16x16. It now looks a bit better as this;

Ok, I will be using this personally in my icon project :) I hope Pierre you can use this same PNG when updating the .ico in fixing this bug

Latest XnConvert does not have this issue, so this is definitely a compile issue with icon information lost in compile or something...
