Acquiring 16-bit colour images via Twain

Hi there;

I love XnView. I've been using it to acquire images via twain from a Leica microscopy camera (leica DC500 firewire camera, this on XP SP3). The twain software for the DC500 pops open it's own window full of controls and settings, you push a nice little "acquire" button and it returns the image back to the application. Too easy.

Everything works great, except that when I use XnView to start up the twain acquire the DC500's software doesn't let me acquire a 16-bit depth image. If I do a twain acquire in Photoshop 8-bit and 16-bit are both available (you pick the bit-depth from the menus in the DC500 window). XnView's not the only software that ends up getting the image format restricted to 8-bit, but it's the one I'd like to use. Is there something I can do for this?

Thanks for a great product.

Best regards,
Steven Cogswell
