XnView problems on Vista

Well... for starters, this:
XnView sometimes hangs after deleting file in view mode
Plus, when I delete file/press Del, XnView's window disappears and swaps Z-order with the window underneath. Then I have to click on the taskbar to switch back to XnView window. Also, often upon deleting file, the window becomes unresponsive to keyboard and mouse messages, and I can only do actions by clicking the toolbar or window's close button. I thought it's related to Vista's Flip3d, but it isn't (I'm running Vista SP2 Home Premium).
If the (current) file I delete is the last one by file order, it jumps to the first file, but I guess that's expected action.
Aero, etc. make no difference. I tried all combinations of "Read one image ahead" and "Keep current image in cache" options, but nothing fixes the "disappearing window" glitch. I don't have Win7 machine to test on it, and there are no problems on XP.
A wild shot, but I would say that the problem is in the application's message pump (

the PE linker version is a dead-giveaway of MFC).
Btw., still no Unicode? Just basic file I/O would do for now, leave EXIF stuff for later.

I can't reproduce. Do you use delete in view mode? Fullscreen from browser mode? browser mode?
Perhaps the same on WinXP, deleting files in full screen mod

Well, when I browse jpg pictures using F11 full screen mode on windows XP and I delete pictures within full screen mode, xnView almost always goes into troubles. I updated to xnView 1.98 and the problem is persistent .
When i delete some file(s) during browsing in full screen mode, xnView becomes confused. It allows to walk only through some of the pictures then, most of pictures seem to be non existing, ESC key doesn't work, so I have to leave through F11 key and restart full screen mode, then it is OK again.

After deleting some files, you can't use anymore previous/next file?? are you able to reproduce?

I'm able to reproduce, but now I'm not sure it is really trouble connected to deleting files:
I just have folder of 40 jpegs and one folder inside. I run full screen mode. Then I switch to another desktop (ctrl-f3 or ctrl-f1) and switch back (ctrl-f2) to desktop with XnView in full screen mode.
That's enough, xnview is confused then as I've described. I use VirtuaWin 3.1 to use several desktops.

Only switching between desktop?? And which problem do you mean by "confused"??

Exactly. Only switching between desktops. It allows to walk only through some of the pictures then, most of pictures seem to be non existing, ESC key doesn't work, so I have to leave through F11 key and restart full screen mode, then it is OK again.

"pictures seems to be non existing"?? You can use PageDown/next but some pictures are no more displayed???

As you say. Sometimes XnView becomes even locked on the only picture, although more pictures in directory exist. PgUp/PgDn/ESC has no effect in full screen mode then until full screen mode is left and started again.

And with the right popup menu??

Right popup menu works as expected: I can use Previous, Next while keys PgUp/PgDn/ESC have no effect.

Oh ok, so it's only a problem with keyboard? keys become inactive?

No, as i told.
PgUp/PgDn has not expected results: i can walk only through some of pictures, or i can not move away from picture just displayed.
ESC usually does not work.
F11 usually works.
Also space/backspace provides unexpected results, seems sometimes right context button stops to work also. But it is hard to describe, it depends what i try, behaviour in full screen mode after switching between desktops become very chaotic. You'd try yourself.
