Lumion

Lumion is a 3-d renderer for Sketchup and similar tools. The videos on the Lumion home page are impressive!
For instance here is a real-time (real-time!) demo that starts by showing how to insert stock animated 3-d objects into a rendered scene:

Notice the animated textures which continue to move while the user is placing objects in the scene, adjusting the time of day, etc.
Certainly a tribute to the advancement of computer graphics technology in recent years that such a tool would be available to the general public at a reasonable price.
No doubt, 10 years from now it will be considered crude and slow.
