Crashes on some Video files

I have version 1.97.8.
On clicking on some video files, some MKV files, for example, XnView hangs up and even closing it takes a long time!
Maybe, whenever XnView is asked to play a file in Preview and it isn't able to, please arrange for the program to exit from Preview with a message and allow the user to continue elsewhere, rather than hang up (freeze) and take for ever to Close when chosen.
Even allow the ESC key to excape or something!
