RC4: Thumbnails rotate out of correct perspective!

Just opened my picture folder in RC4 using Layout 3.
Many of the pictures are displaying with the thumbnails mistakenly rotated. Others are showing the drop shadow the size of the thumbnail's selected dimensions, not the image's bounding box.
Anyone care to verify this behavor? I can't tell what's to blame (perhaps a tools option somewhere).
Thanks,
Andy

I think I've figured this one out.
The files that I rotated a long time ago are the thumbnails that are rotated as if they were in their original orientation. They display in the Preview pane and Image window correctly.
I didn't know that images kept that kind of historical information!

The images have an EXIF orientation flag. XnView 1.80 auto-rotates the images automatically (by default). You can either deactivate the option "Rotate images based on EXIF orientation" or fix the images. For more details please see topic
How to rotate images automatically?.
Also, there is the embedded thumbnail which might not have been rotated when rotating the image. See topics
RC3: Option "Use Embedded Thumbnail" active and
RC3: Icon for embedded thumbnail for some info.

You have in some jpeg a embedded thumbnail.

Thanks, Pierre!
That "Read" option wasn't default in earlier RC's.
All the best,
Andy
