1. In xplorer2 (or file manager)
2. Double-click on file
3. XnView opens the file in View Mode
4. Hold Shift key down and Right-click -> Delete
5. XnView asks if you want to delete the file to the Recycle Bin???
6. It should say "Are you sure you want to delete this file"

So many Shift+DEL problems

This is a special scenario and I wouldn't even expect this to work. Even MS Explorer on XP SP2 doesn't do this. So I think this is no bug.

Strange it works in "xplorer2 lite" which for the most part uses "Windows Explorer" functions.

Perhaps a problem of my Explorer or a setting: In MS Explorer I've selected a file and then pressed Shift+Del. The known message box appears. Is Shift + Del really supported by MS Explorer?

Yes, it's a way of bypassing the Recycle Bin without disabling the Recycle Bin.
I admit only advanced or experienced users should use it.

As written above the Shift+Del bypass does not work on Windows XP SP2 Home Edition at all. Perhaps in the professional edition?

Wow, if thats true I'm never using WinXP Home Edition.

You better don't. But I'm sure there's some Tweak tool to change this.

And I thought there was a setting somewhere in Windows or Explorer that makes the message box not appear at all.

Yes there is in the Recycle Bin settings area, not in Windows Explorer really. On your Desktop, right-click on the Recycle Bin -> Properties and the option is there.

Then there's really something wrong with your PC. I remember using that shortcut even in Windows 95. So it's nothing new at all.

Just tried on a box-standard Windows 98 SE installation and on a Windows XP Professional. On none of the system this works. Could other people please check?

This was taken from Win2000 Help File:

To delete a file or folder
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Click the file or folder you want to delete.
- On the File menu, click Delete.

Notes
To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
Deleted files remain in the Recycle Bin until you empty it unless you press and hold down SHIFT while dragging an item to the Recycle Bin. Then the item is deleted from your computer without being stored in the Recycle Bin.
If you want to retrieve a file you have deleted, double-click Recycle Bin on the desktop, right-click the file you want to retrieve, and then click Restore.
You can also delete files or folders by right-clicking the file or folder and then clicking Delete.

Not quite the same as I'm doing but I do know Win98/98SE and Win2k can do Shift+Del deletes.

Actually doesn't really matter much whether Shift+Del works in Explorer or not. We have to decide for XnView, here.

I think it's an issue but a minor one.

I fix it

This has been fixed in RC5 - retested and confirmed.
