alpha in thumbnail

I'm having a hard time getting AlphaForThumbnail option to work in XnView 1.98.4. 
I tried few different image file types with alpha transparency, but I don't see any difference between thumbnails when I set AlphaForThumbnail=0 or AlphaForThumbnail=1.

Do you have rebuilt thumbnails?

AlphaForThumbnail=0/1 has no effect.The animated screenshot below shows the thumbnails for spacesuit.png & xnview.png with and without activated Use alpha channel option in the View menu of viewer mode.
