XnView Software

Question from a new user here. Is it possible to limit the rights of users when installing XnView? The reason I ask is that I'm considering using XnView as a photo library solution for my charity. I'd like to allow other members of my charity to view images and search by keyword but would like to limit their edit capabilities. Is there any way to do this as an admin?

If I understand you correct - then you are maybe on the wrong way.

Usually you have to use "Permissions and Rights" on your file system to allow or to not allow "open / edit / delete" to the users. To limit the software will result in a new software - downloaded and installed by the users ...

Thanks very much for your replies.

Peter, I have discussed limiting edit rights on the image files with our IT team and plan to do so, but that wouldn't prevent users from making edits in XnView and Saving As to a different file location / memory stick / CD etc. I wondered whether there was a way of preventing use of or hiding certain edit functions by changing preferences within the software. I take your point about the edit functions being central to the software.

Pierre, what are the image&filter menus? If I that would enable me to hide certain edit functions that might do it.

What do you want to hide?

Basically, I would want to hide all the functions allowing the user to permanently edit images.

So almost all menu from view mode? But also all edit functions in browser mode like edit iptc?
