Error opening graphic files in Explorer

Hi, I've just installed XnView 1.66 and think it's a GREAT program. Good job to the developers. Anyhow, I've encountered this problem & hoped that anyone out there can help out.
After uninstalling ACDSee and installing XnView, I noticed that in Explorer, all graphic files are set back to default opening, that is using IE to open and view the files.
I then try to set XnView as default program to open the graphic files. After doing that, I clicked on the file in Win Explorer and an error msg pops out saying
Cannot find the file '...' (or one of its components). Make sure the path & filenames are correct & that all required libs are available
XnView then opens but with the Warning msg
Error opening the file <...>. Also, IE will automatically close.
Any ideas, gentlemen and gentlewomen

. Regards

Not sure on which platform (Win XP, 2000, 98, 95, ...) you are, but please have a look at
File associations on Windows XP. Perhaps this helps...

I'm using Win NT ver. 4. I've tried looking at the link you gave me.
I've tried something similar b4, going to Explorer, options and change the file extension opening program from there, but it doesn't works.
Thanks anyway for your help.
I'm still facing the same problem as before. The same goes to email attachments as well. If someone send over a graphic file, I can't click & open it straight away. Need to copy the files out first, then open XnView and search file from there. It's very tedious.
Anymore ideas ladies & gents. After installation, can u guys just double click on any graphic files and XnView will open it ?
File associations stored in Windows registry buggy

Thanks for your quick feedback and extra infos. Double clicking on an image file and opening it is a basic and very essential feature, so it's really bad if this does not work. But my experience and understanding is that 99,9% of the XnView users can double click on a file and then open it without problems. Please mail to Pierre or me if this is not the case.
So let's try to bring you on the 99,9% side and solve your problem:
Reading your problem descriptions, the file association stored in the Windows registry seem to be buggy. To fix them, please remove the file associations set in XnView and then associate them again. To do this, you open the options "Tools->Options->Associations" in XnView. Then you press "Restore All". Then press "Most common" and/or you manually select the formats you want to associate by checking them in the list.
Please see post
Opening files with spaces in names/create new image for some background infos. Do NOT use the Windows dialog to associate a file extension to XnView.

You know wat.. When I open the options "Tools->Options->Associations" in XnView. None of the check boxes is clicked. After checking all of them, everything works fine now.
