RC6: Tab caption length limited still…

:) Hello !

- Despite the new field in the Options, the caption in a file-tab is still limited at 16 characters @ home under Win 98 SE. Wider ones are truncated with "".
- Indeed, I restarted XnView.

- I hope that it isn't necessary to rebuild a new INI file again, it should be a pain in the neck ! :(

 Kind regards,
Claude

Strange i have not this problem with 2K. Perhaps a limitation in Win 98??

I seem limited to 16 characters plus 3 dots on Win2K sp4. I'm using a new ini. I do this with each version.

Update: Momentarily I got it to work right by selecting "no thumb in tab", but now I'm limited to 16+3 again.

I've tried on Windows 98 SE, no problem. Long filenames are fully shown. Strange...

I don't have this problem either (xp sp2)

OT: IMO, the "you must restart" popup is a bit annoying. I'd prefer if that was directly specified in the option string, eg "Limit tab caption to <textbox> (requires restart)"

My tab limit is set to 64 with no problems, I'll overclock it to 256 in a sec...

"You must restart" message box? I don't have such a message box when changing the value in "Limit tab caption to [ ]".

Strange, I get that message all the time when I alter the value.

Oops, right. Must have overlooked the message box...

:) Hello All !

- The captions in the tabs are truncated still at this moment, like you can see below :

     Image
- In the title-bar, the full name is shown alright.

- But yet, the tab-setting is largely wider :

    Image

- I don't think that Win 98 SE limits this anyway… A very long caption in Total Commander :

:?: The mystery darkens…

Note : Although I disabled the mini-thumbnails in the tabs, I get still the one of the Browser. Normal ?

 Kind regards,
Claude

I don't have this bug on windows 98 / windows XP. Maybe it is because of the old ini.

Edit:
I just tried this with old RC5 ini and still I don't have this bug.

I think this is the bug:
When I start on a short filename, TAB is limited to 16+3 when I advance to a long filename in the same directory.

When I start on long filename, TAB is correctly shown only the first time. When I go to other files from here, then filenames are limited to 16+3 again.

Hey, !

Yes, right with prev/next file
