[0.39] Few issues from the user of regular XnView

Hi,
I've been XnView user for a long time (and I mean looooong! -- good job :D ) and I'm trying XnViewMP for some time now. While it's getting better with every release there are still some kinks that prevents me from switch:

- when I browse filelist and press [ENTER] to switch to the view of the image I cannot go back to the browser by pressing [ENTER] again (it works for doubleclick and it's setup the same in preferences; also [ESC] seems to work)

- (IMHO) the file list should have static size/width -- it's more intuitive (still IMHO) than this fluid like that tries to adjust to the size of the window/other panes -- I've set size of the filelist nad treeview and they should stay that way - only area that should adjust is the preview (also a short description of my layout: left-treeview; centre- preview with other image tabs; left-filelist

- it would be nice to haveshortcut for tree pane; also - completely configurable shortcuts would be amazing (I got used to using 'f' to switch fullscreen on/off and it doesn't work now -- force of habbit is hard to overcome (; )

- again, this might be solved by customizable shortcuts but for now - when we view image with the default 100% view and 'fit to view only for large images' and we want to see bigger one then I used to use "/" -- display nice fitted image and upon switching to another image I have 100% view, also '*' does bring me back to 100% view; currently using '/' causes global setting to change to fit-to-width and this is permanent and the only way to switch it back is to use mouse and select right option from context menu; for a keyboard-only user this is a bit annoying;

- upon using "Browse with XnViewMP" there is no focus on the filelist so therefore we have to either click there or use [TAB] (this is the behaviour in the regular XnView)

- am I missing something, but isn't there any option to completely turn off Info Pane?

- when using keyboard to switch between pictures in browser view there is a significant delay between keypress and the image display (it works perfectly for the mouse click selection)

basically - it looks like XnViewMP needs a bit of polishing (at least for me) in the keyboard area, beside that it's amazing :D

Would've thought this legacy XnView 'ENTER' method would be available in XnView MP as even an option...Shouldn't be hard for the dev to resolve.

To do what actions in the tree pane?

Currently, it seems that it's only possible to toggle the Info pane on/off within a single session...However you have a good point a simple tickbox option should exist to be able to fully disable it (this should go in: Settings>view>info)

Probably a bug by the sounds of it.

This will all arrive gradually in the future :)

It is, but it doesn't work ;) ENTER from browser to view works like a charm, but the other way around - no; there is a quick flash suggesting the change should be made but after a split second we are back viewing the image...
To do what actions in the tree pane?
Mea culpa - scarce of information ;) to simply show/hide it :)

How to do it? The closest I got was to put it in the same pane as the preview (well.. put the preview within infobox) as a tab and switch to preview therefore info pane would be somehow hidden, but this prevents us from placing preview where we want it...
Probably a bug by the sounds of it.
Btw. is there a bugtrack of some sort or threads are just it? :)

I know, but mentioning it makes sense as without it there is a good change that it's not known:)

Thanks for the replay

Perhaps a shortcut such as Shift+Q...Maybe

Press "I" keyboard key in while in the viewer

No not a bug tracker. All bugs are reported as topics on this forum; http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewforum.php?f=62

OK, 2 years later, XnView MP is getting more attention so a bit of bump - could we have above at least as an option? :)

EDIT: actually there is an option for that and it kinda works - with the "browser <> filelist" option selected the transition from filelist works, but not the other way around - filelist only flashes and we are back to browser...

You are in browser view, press ENTER to view the file, press ENTER to go back browser, and it doesn't work??

Yup. I'm in a browser view (file list and file preview), I hit the ENTER, file opens. I can then:
* hit ESC and I'm back to browser view;
* mouse double click - back in browser view;
* hit ENTER again and: a browser view quickly flash and I'm again in file view;

Peculiar observation - above is valid for main ENTER key. It behaves a bit differently when using numpad enter - basically numpad enter closes the view and goes back to browser view without problem, but! it can't go from browser to view (i.e. open the file) - after hitting numpad enter in browser view nothing happens...

Hey wojtek. This seems to be the same bug I experienced here -> http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=29129

Can you confirm it only does this when the Browser mode is in Details or Thumbnail+Details view?

YES!
It works like a charm if I switch from detail view! Tho I can't see any use for any other view except detail (fro me!) thus a bit <sadface> :(
