What do you mean with "is loaded in paint"?

You just need to do these steps

1. press F4 and then ALT+ENTER
2. press ESC

several times. Here I just got the crash after opening the properties dialog for the 7th time. At some point I always get it to crash here!

F4 is the same as File -> Open With -> Associated Editor

And that Associated Editor is usually Paint.

Paint is the default associated program

I have not assiciated the formats with any editor in XnView. Assosiated System editor is XnView! Paint isn't even installed here (uninstalled from Control Panel).
