luminus density distribution

Hello @all
does anybody know a tool to extract the luminus or brightness of each pixel from a picture into a ascii format in order to make a luminus density distribution chart?
I have found some tools for C++, java, python ... but I´m no programmer and not able to work with these tools
The picture format is for example bmp (if there is any better format for the processing feel free to suggest)
The picture could be greyscale picture
The result should be in the form:
x coordinate y coordinate luminus/brightness
or or
line numer row number
Thanks in Advance
Hermann
