Basically, when a non-image file is selected and you try to do image things with it (like set it as wallpaper or use it in a slide show), it obviously doesn't work. I'm just saying it would be nice if the program recognized when this occurs and would gray out all options that apply only to image files.

BTW, I'll be out of town for 2 weeks leaving tomorrow. Sorry if I have to leave this or other posts "unfinished". Thanks for understanding.

Because? It doesn't look like a big deal to me.

Danny, RC5 was suppose to be Final and we're now at RC6, going on to Final.
We can't afford anymore slow-downs.

All requests should now be postphoned - http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=2419

Pierre has been open to suggestions in the past RCs. He's the one who has to decide whether something is postponed or included into the 1.80.

To be honest, I'd also prefer that we would focus on bugs and not new features and I think that we still need another 2-3 release candidates to have a really stable version. But it's Pierre's decision, not ours, we can just give him hints.

Why would we try to do image things with non-image files anyway?

Well in Firefox's cache there are image files but without any extension which could then be considered as "non-image files"

Nope :) They ARE image files, which XnView will process as such when "recognize ony by entension" is unticked (options>browser>file list).
