Dealing with "standard" ranking

Thanks for all the work done so far.

It apperas that a number of picture related applications deal with pictures ranking based on the EXIF rating field.

XnView does not display this filed in the EXIF metadata, does not recognize the ranking defined in another application, and, if my understanding is correct, stores its ranking in its proprietary db which prevents to share it with other applications.

It would be nice to be abble to see in XnView ranking defined elsewhere and to be able to set and modify a ranking in XnView which could be viewed in other applications.

Any hope to get this?

XnView has a lot of IPTC, EXIF and XMP features. Is this what you are looking for?

Hi Peter,

Sorry if I was not clear enough. I have edited my inital post.

I am looking for missing features

When another software like Windows 7 explorer, Windows 7 image viewer, Canon DPP, to quote a few assigns a ranking to a picture on a scale from 1 to 5, it records the resulet into an EXIF field named Ranking.

As a result the other applications can view and use that ranking.

What I am looking for is:
For XnView to display that field into the EXIF data section. Even if the field is prent in a file it is not shown.
To have XnView recognize that a ranking has been assigned to a picture by reading that field and using it to display the ranking.
For XnView to store the ranking assigned or modified within XnView into that field

Ok, so only XnViewMP can use XMP rating
