0.39-Linux: Edit IPTC/XMP->Date/Time sets time to "12:00 am"

From the "Metadata->Edit IPTC/XMP" menu. Selecting "Date/Time" and clicking on the second radio button, and then selecting "EXIF Date/Time Taken[|Digitized|Modified] (if exists)" and then "Save" ===> results in the correct time being set in IPTC.
But... if you later bring up "Metadata->Edit IPTC/XMP", although the date is correct, the time is set to "12:00 am" in "Date/Time".
If you save again, the time is changed in IPTC- Created Time (as seen in the Info panel) to 00:00:00.
This happens even if you do not click on the Date/Time Tab (and therefore do not see that the time is now wrong).

So, say you enter all the metadata (including setting the date/time from EXIF Time taken) and save it. OK so far...
Then you think of another keyword you want to add, or notice a misspelling you want to correct.
You add the keyword, or correct the misspelling, and then save again.
Your IPTC Created Time is now "00:00:00", instead of the time that you had previously set.
