XnView Software

Greetings.

I had been using XnView 1.98.8 under Windows XP SP3 x86 since it was released.

When 1.99 was released, I was eager to install it to address some bug fixes.

However, a new issue has arisen with this version.

This morning I was viewing a series of images in View mode. I was using the left and right-arrow
keys to move back and forth through the image set. It consisted of approximately 65 .jpg images,
all of about 600 KB in size.

In the process of paging through the images, XnView would inexplicably lock at various, seemingly
random points in the image set. The right-arrow icon would lock in depressed condition, and this
was also true of the left-arrow icon. It was necessary to close the viewer and start over again at
these points. If I repeat the sequence, it does not lock up at the same images.

Since I had viewed this image set previously in version 1.98.8 without issues, I removed 1.99 and
fell back to the earlier version. I then confirmed that this issue doesn't occur at all in that older
version.

For the time being, I will stick with 1.98.8 and wait for the next release.

If anyone needs further info on this issue, I'll be happy to help, and will switch between versions
if necessary in order to track down the issue.

I haven't yet tried this on my Windows 7 machine, but most likely will over the course of the
weekend.

I installed 1.99 using the "small" installer package. The same goes for 1.98.8.

Hello. Thanks for responding.

I find this strange as well, since I didn't see anything pertinent in the change log.

Initially, I installed 1.99 on top of the previous version, and in so doing inherited
all of the previous settings. I'll install 1.99 again with a clean .ini and will report
back with the results in a couple of days.
