Bizarre timestamps on modified files

Hi,
On WinXP SP3 (32-bit), with a new install (I also deleted the .ini file to be sure) of XnView 1.99, if I hit CTRL-D on a read-only file, and add a description, the file is backed up (.bak extension) OK, and the new file is OK except that the timestamps are very strange...
The created, modified, and accessed timestamps vary, but the year seems to always be EITHER 1612 or 30431 (not a typo!). The time of day varies but never matches localtime nor GMT.
Example:
Created: 8/15/1612 6:41:38PM
Modified: 11/25/30431 5:05:57AM
Accessed: 11/25/30431 4:40:57AM
The problem doesn't seem to exist if the files aren't read-only.
Thanks,
Bob
