0.51: A big thanks and a few problems...

Ver. 0.51 of XnViewMP works great, thanks for this incredible piece of software!

I've got two problems though that prevent me from using it as my only photo browser: First of all, it crashes quite frequently (this may happen e.g. when I work with RAW files in AfterShot Pro and ASP writes XMPs to the folder that is open in XnViewMP).

Secondly, I cannot persuade XnViewMP to write XMP-files to the directory that is open. I.e. if I add keywords to JPG- and RAW-files in XnViewMP, they are written to the IPTC Data of the JPGs. This is not possible for RAWs; the keywords should be stored in XMP files instead. These XMPs should be written to the same directory as the RAWs so that the keywords can be picked up by e.g. an external RAW converter (and be written to the converted JPGs). Or do I miss something?

Cheers
Frank

Do you have a way to reproduce the crash?

Sorry for the late reply Pierre.

The crashes seem to occur when new files are written to the directory opened in XnViewMP (or when old files are updated).

Example: I open a directory in XnViewMP, drag and drop a few RAW files to AftershotPro (my RAW converter) and modify them there. AftershotPro writes xmp files (as sidecar files) for each modified RAW to the same directory. This may lead to a crash of XnViewMP (not always). I'm on WinXP 32 b.t.w.

Could you add the feature that XnViewMP writes XMP sidecar files for jpgs AND RAWS? This would be awsome. These two points aside, I find XnViewMP extremely good: fast, great "zoom via mouseclick" function to check focus, great customizability! Thanks for all your efforts!

Cheers
Frank
