35mm equivalent focal length

Some cameras (even expensive and supposedly "high grade" ones) don't use the standard (?) Exif field "focal length in 35mm format", and this is really a pity, particularly when you mix pictures from different DSCs.
This problem has already been exposed for XnView/Windows here in the french forum :

In the case of a Canon G11, for instance, even ExifTool does not find this info in the EXIF header.
Why not have in the XnViewMP configuration a list of "known" values of the field {EXIF:Model} and for each value, the multiplication coefficient between the real focal length (always present, I hope !;-) and the 35mm equivalent focal length, or 2 values real/equivalent focal lengths , and let XnViewMP calculate exactly the coefficient ??
This list could be typed in by user, under his/her own responsibility, and sharable by means of the forums if not distributed with XnView-MP.
