Wrong width/height ratio in slide show

Hello,
it would be very nice if someone could give me an answer to the question following.
I am using XnView on two laptops but each with exactly the same external screen model. The screens have the
width/height ratio of about 5 : 3.
XN-Version : 1.98.5 on both laptops.
Laptop 1 : Win XP 5.1.2600 SP 2
Laptop 2 : Win 7 Prof. SP 1
In case of Win 7 XnView shows photos with the correct width/height ratio; that means in the slide show there are
free dark strips left and right of the picture resulting from the not matching width/height ratio of the screen.
In case of Win XP XnView displays photos from the left to the right border of the screen that means distorted in width.
I am quite optimistic that there is some setting in Win XP which leads to the same behaviour as in Win 7, but where ?
Thanks and kind regards, Roldi

Hello Pierre,
here two photos showing the problem :
"
http://www.filefactory.com/file/4m0f0ay ... /WIN_7_JPG"
Here the bear photo displayed in XnView slideshow is shown with the correct width/height ratio. Because the flat screen has another ratio XnView displays the photo with the black areas left and right of the photo. (Win 7)
"
http://www.filefactory.com/file/70arjti ... WIN_XP_JPG"
Same bear photo, same flat screen model/type/size, but Windows XP. The photo is displayed from the left to the right border of the screen. By that the photo is too wide and distorted. The bear (and people !) look "fat".
Can you give me a hint what to do in Win XP ?
Thanks and kind regards, Roldi

Hello Pierre,
no, they do not.
The Win 7 laptop runs on 1920 x 1080.
On the XP laptop 1024 x 768 is used.
I found out by testing : If I put the resolution on the XP laptop to 1680 x 1050 (which is the highest possible on that machine) then XNView slideshow shows the photos with correct width/height ratio (that means there are on the external screen the black stripes left and right of the pictures simiular to the Win 7 laptop's external screen).
I would like to continue using 1024 x 768 resolution on the XP laptop (because of font sizes). In my opinion the XNView slideshow should show the correct width/height ratio of photo independently from the screen resolution.
Thanks for your help and regards, Roldi
