On my new windows-8 (64 bit) computer
I can't seem be run XnViewMP , also file-association doesn't seem to work,
For XnViewMP I get the error message:

The application has failed to start because of its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxtrace.exe tool for more detail.

Any clues how to get this working ?

René

That is likely due to to the changes to the file associations in Win 8:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx
Apps are no longer able to programmatically set themselves as the default handler for a file type or protocol.
If I am reading it correctly, apps are no longer even able to query this information.
