XnView Software

The version is still slow with basic explorer functions especially deleting in thumbnail mode. At the moment I am not deleting anything as it is too slow. It seems that is is not using the Windows APIs for these kind of tasks (moving, deleting, etc) or that the required database operations to find and remove the thumbnail and redisplay the remaining thumbnails are not efficient. Windows Explorer is much much much much faster even in thumbnail mode.

I have this problem as well. Deleting/moving 1 or more files in thumbnail mode freezes XnViewMP 0.51 for 5-20 seconds each time. My data is on a network fileshare, but XnView 1.99 and Windows Explorer do this much faster.

I do not have high quality thumbnails enabled. Enabling or disabling thumbnail cache doesn't make a difference, and "create thumbnails for whole folder" is disabled.

Yes, XnViewMP should use as much API's as possible

you delete 1 file from a folder with a lot of files? Do you use categories?

I delete 1 file or many selected files from a folder with many files in thumbnail view (Did not test with other views).
Deletion itself is quick. The thumbnail disappears immediately. But then nothing happends. Cpu is at 50% for xnview.exe, no input possible in xnviemp only the hourglass is showing. This lasts for 5-10 minute. It is impossible to work with files efficiently this way.

Edit: This happends on move also. i don´t know what xnviemp is doing while showing this behaviour. Killing the process and restarting it shows files have been properly deleted/moved.
