XnView Software

Hi,

Currently, XnView remembers the selected tab in the preview pane when changing folders, but not after a restart of the program. It ALWAYS defaults to the "Properties tab" after a restart.
Moreover, there's a problem if the selected tab happens to be the EXIF tab: if the selected tab in the preview pane is the EXIF tab and one changes to a different pic that doesn't have EXIF info attached, the selected tab goes back to the "Properties" tab. But when changing back to another pic that DOES have EXIF info, the "Properties" tab remains as the selected tab, and one has to manually change to the EXIF tab to view the EXIF info.

I think that both these problems could be solved by creating a new preference in Options: "Preview pane default tab"
It could work like this: if the user doesn't make a selection there, XnView would work as it does now (no change for existing users who don't need this option). If the user selects "EXIF" as the default tab, then the EXIF tab would become the selected tab when previewing a pic, IF THE EXIF INFO IS AVAILABLE. If no EXIF info is available in that particular pic, then XnVIEW could display the "Properties" tab as it does now. But when one selects again a pic that DOES have EXIF info, XnView would select the EXIF tab and display the EXIF info. This would work across folders and across restarts.

I hope I could explain my suggestion clearly. Please consider it for future versions.

+1 (Sounds like a reasonable and helpful solution, to me.)
