Let's have Ini tweak input from About window

Hi,

I have made this below mock-screenshot:

The mock-screenshot shows how convenient it would be for users to be able to add/remove Ini Tweaks (experimental new features) to XnViewMP via a GUI method instead of having to locate and open xnview.ini file.

This proposed GUI method, via using the About screen, would be especially pleasing for less-advanced users who otherwise might do damage to xnview.ini contents.

======================================================================

= As a heading there could be a written disclaimer (at the top interface) stating "Some of these features are experimental"

= The whole interface could become a place where some of these settings would remain here permanently as 'under the hood' settings.

= Other possible name for the tab could be "Tweaks" or "Tweaking" etc

= Yes a Mozilla/Firefox about:config display could be preferable in where we have the true/false flags to use as enabling or disabling features. Support for double-click on this or CTRL+left click. Changes made here would reflect the same so in the xnview.ini. In addition to true/false flags there could be support for numerical input such as "0","1","2","3" etc for features in which a number limit or specify is required.

======================================================================

I hope this is understood.

I really like this idea.... Pierre, please!!! make it happen.

BTW... it'll be great if we could have the tweak terms posted in order to know what everything does.

"Ex: Zoomlockflag in XnviewMP"

Great suggestion :-)
An implementation similar to the Config Editor (about:config) in Mozilla/XUL-based applications would be nice. Hidden (UI-less) and changed settings are highlighted and can be (re)set to their defaults.

Thanks both you guys for support.

rfrank, I have already begun such list of Ini tweak variables in this topic: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=24968

XnTriq, yes and it would especially be nice for new features to be added this way into XnViewMP so that only the most important tickbox features make the Settings GUI.

Actually instead of the list I created in my topic.

Pierre could start a new Sticky Topic with the full list of Ini Tweaks along date+MP version added and brief explanation. Below is an example topic layout for it to follow:
XnViewMP {version} - {release date}

General/hideMenuBar
This can hide the menu bar of the program interface.

[Browser]/UseCompleter
This would work in future to enable the Autocomplete function in Browser's path field

XnViewMP {version} - {release date}

allInTab=true
This makes all tools (e.g. 'About' window) open as tabs within XnViewMP

The idea is good but these settings without full user interface shouldn't be in the "About" dialog but a category in the settings.
