Quick exit setting using mouse (Windows Explorer use)

Usage description:

I'm wandering through directories with Windows Explorer and I double click on an image file to see what it is. XnView launches in full screen mode and I view the picture (perfect!).

Now however I want to quickly exit and get back to Window Explorer to look around more (note that these aren't necessarily image only directories)

Option 1: Reach over and hit the ESC key to exit XnView (this works but I'm constantly going from mouse to keyboard, not a great flow).

Option 2: Double click on the image to leave full screen mode, then click the "X" to close XnView and return to Windows Explorer (rather tedious each time).

It would be much smoother if I could set something to quickly exit XnView using the mouse.

Ideal fix: Add an option something like "Fullscreen - Quick exit" to the "Mode when starting with a file" list. Instead of defaulting to the selection tool, a single left-click would exit XnView. This would make it very smooth to go in and out of files. Double click on a file to view and then single click to exit (don't even have to move your finger). Personally I'll launch XnView directly to use the editing abilities so an option to cancel quick exit mode while viewing is overkill in my opinion.

Less Ideal fix: Add an "Exit" option to the "Switching Modes" pull down list to let us choose middle mouse click to exit.

Thanks for your time and a great product!

What about just right click->close? Works fine for me.
Open an image, right click the image, look at the bottom of the menu and you'll see "close (ctrl+w)", click that and xnview closes. It works in both fullscreen & normal view modes.

Option Exit in the context menu is very good for this, I'm using it often (not only in XnView), I'm not sure if it's enabled by default. If you right click in the bottom part of screen, you just need to move a mouse little bit and click Exit.

Thanks for the tip about right-clicking towards the bottom on the screen, that makes Close easier to get to. This is certainly an improvement over what I was doing.

The "single left-click to exit" idea came from the CompuPic program which I used to use. It was so natural with Windows Explorer that I thought I'd suggest it for this great program.

You're welcome, you can enable the "exit" option either, it works always to exit XnView.

Another hint, make sure you are using the browser fullscreen mode, not the edit mode which is slower. You can check it in Options > General > Mode when starting with a file. Browser mode should be faster, but some options are unavailable in this mode (crop, rotate...).

Regarding the middle click, it should be possible to make the option to exit XnView with the middle click using the HotkeyP program, more info here:
