I have already sent my ideas to the developer concerning a separate dedicated xnview slideshow application (mac/win/linux). I chose to send it privately as to protect some of the ideas as 'original'. They are just ideas for a developer's mind and not a request that is desperate.

Might it be good if I started a poll on this forum asking users if they would like to see an MP Slideshow application? Hmm

But I still reckon the 'Quick Slideshow' within XnViewMP could come with some enhancing features that would be a fraction of the features found in a dedicated slideshow application. To make the 'Quick Slideshow' more pleasing for XnViewMP users.

Ok, below mock picture shows a modified settings entry: let me explain the mock picture:

{combobox} Slight auto zoom = None, All, random
This would auto zoom into picture(s) of slideshow, not a full Ken Burns effect as Ken Burns could be properly added into a dedicated slideshow application. So it would be a light gentle zooming before moving onto next picture of slideshow.

{combobox} Transition = None, Cut, Blur, Fade, Zoom in, Zoom out, Pixelate, Dissolve, Wipe, Glow out
This gives ability to use interesting transitions, perfect for giving 'style' to slideshow presentations. Imagine the business users of XnView!

{spinbox/user entry} Transition delay = between 1-600 Seconds
A delay time between each picture shown in slideshow, so 600 seconds is the same as 5 minutes.

{tickbox} Loop slideshow = enabled/disabled
The slideshow will continue to play in a continuous loop, without stopping.

+1, Good idea.
About the Slight auto zoom effect, FYI: ... into "XBMC software" it is possible to set some (2) nice automatic and "dynamics behavior" effects (not only for the transition): but a percentage must be set too (custom).

PS: a http server (and UPNP AV) is also available into XBMC to have the ability to view (or use via a remote ctrl) to (or from) a smartphone/ipad or an other computer or TV (via wifi or lan).

I wonder what the difference and use cases for slide show and quick slide show are.

My perception and understanding is:

Quick slideshow is in first instance an instant or immediate slideshow. You start a quick slide show when people are around your computer and you want to quickly and instantly show them some images.

The (normal) slideshow is used in all other cases, i.e. if you want to have a sophisticated slide show, perhaps even with music and which you might save for later viewing or sharing with other.

If the instant usage is the only difference between these two types of slide shows, I think that all settings available for normal slideshow should also be available for the quick slide show without any exception. All these quick slide show settings are available in the options and can be changed if needed.

Hello,
I used to think like helmut before (with 2 slideshow modes - for 1.9X version), but now (with MP version) I'am not sure, but I think (like Helmut) than only one slideshow is enought (because the "Quick" SlideShow can also be "Normal" with a different setting) ... so maybe it's not very usefull to develop 2 kinds of slideshow as "doubloon" into MP ???

Well I also think that XnView software should have a separate app for Slideshow viewing and management and I have already submitted my ideas to Pierre for it.

Great ideas, would love to see me some pan & zoom effects for slideshow!

Another thing i would love that may go hand in hand with the pan&zoom effect is to have the application always "fill" the screen with image so there's no black borders ever.

For tall images on a widescreen ofcourse it's going to look a little crazy, but i actually prefer that compared to having black borders and a little image in the middle.
