RAW rotated images unrotated in Compare window

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1
XnView: Ver. 1.99.6 -- option for Camera RAW set to "Embedded Thumbnail" everywhere
I have two Canon cameras that produce RAW (.CR2) files, the EOS 7D and the PowerShot SX50. When I view RAW images produced when either camera is rotated, i.e., in portrait mode, they appear correctly rotated in the browser thumbnails and in the single image view window. However, if I view these images in the Compare window, they are NOT rotated; i.e., they incorrectly appear in landscape mode. OTOH, rotated JPEG (.JPG) files from these cameras appear correctly rotated in the Compare window.
If I change the option for Camera RAW to "Half size" by using Tools > Options > View > Misc. > Camera RAW > Half size, the images appear rotated correctly in the Compare window. Of course, the images then take longer to load, which is undesirable.
Anyone know of a fix?
