Usability: Compare with quick way to toggle images

For a long time, I have an idea for comparing images on my mind. Now, I found that I have posted this idea two years, ago:
This comparison would work for two images, only. Nevertheless I still think this would be a very usable way to compare images.
Other opinions or even experience with a tool that supports this?

Hello helmut,
+1 I support, it's a good idea (but must also show the name of the selected picture)

Thanks for your feedback, oops66. I think both filenames should be shown and the currently hidden image file should be greyed out and/or marked somehow. This way the user can see which files are compared and which file is currently displayed.

Hello,
...A problem than I can see is: if more than 2 pictures are compared, in this case maybe it's better to use a shortkey "n" as "next" instead (...while pressing left mouse button picture B is shown) so by this way we can have (if "n" is pressed) ...Picture B - C - D - etc... - A - B -C - etc...
...So all filenames should be shown and all hidden image file should be greyed out and/or marked somehow
?

Right, I didn't think about comparison of more than 2 images. Your suggested shortcut "n" sounds reasonable to me, but I guess most people won't know or try. Perhaps cursor left/right plus the page up/down keys might be better for navigating through the images.
EDIT: In addition to the above shortcuts, the keys "1", "2", "3", and "4" might be assigned to navigate to a specific images. By pressing a key, the appropriate image (1,2,3, or 4) is displayed.

Right, why not.

The implementation in Corel PHOTO-PAINT is close to perfect:

Unless I'm missing something, I think you can already do this in xnview.
Select the images you want to compare. Press Shift-C. check "Use tabs".
**Double click one of the tab names**.
Then use left and right arrow keys to switch between images.
