Win 8/64: Subst drives missing when EXE started directly

New Win8/64 system here. After installing XnView 2.0, I started it
directly from the EXE and observed none of my SUBST drives were visible in the folder the tree.
In the process of documenting this error, I discovered that if XnView starts from a shortcut (.lnk), then all SUBST drives ARE displayed!
This behavior occurs for XnView "Classic" v2.0 and 1.9.6
as well as for XnView MP!
Crazy, man!

Possible permissions issue?
Try opening both as admin or as a regular user.
When programs are installed in the Programs x86 folder they may operate under permissions restrictions on a Win8 system. The permission restriction may be causing this (speculation by the way as i am also a new Win8 user myself having just migrated from XP).
If it is a permissions issue that can be changed in Properties or you can uninstall and try installing at the C:\ level and give it full access at installation.
