XnConvert - No IPTC for .png ?

It appears that XnConvert applies batch metadata properly for .JPG files, but does not for .PNG files.

In this situation, the files are dropped in the window, and given the batch metadata and a numeral, no other conversion happening.

Frankly, I am still trying to sort this out. It appears to happen with both XnConvert 1.55 and with the previous version.

It's only 7.5 years later ;-)
but I stumpled also into this question. The dialogue of XnConvert writes

"Works only for JPEG, TIFF, PNG output format"
Unbenannt.PNG
Unbenannt.PNG (5.11 KiB) Viewed 1125 times
So what's the current state?
