Batch rename error -- no explanation

I'm using the latest version of XnViewMP on the latest version of OSX (10.8.4). I'm trying to batch rename images in my Dropbox folder. When I do so, it says "An error occurred, files can't be renamed."

That's it. No other explanation. Pretty frustrating.

I checked the folder and made sure I have permission to read/write. I do. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions?

Are you able to rename one file?

Perhaps you can add in the dialog(s) at least an error code (or message) in order to be more helpful for you?

1. Name collisions?
2. The file which you try to rename is already open? (eg. by Dropbox syncing engine?) Try to rename the files outside.

OK, it turns out I was trying to rename some of them to conflicting (same) names. Would be nice to have a more expansive error message -- or better yet, a way to automatically rename the files w/ a "-2" suffix or something. Anyway, thanks.

Decisive action. Needs user input. The best way would be a dialog saying "The c:\foo\blah.cr2 already exists. What to do?" and put some buttons here, a rename box etc. Pierre has somewhere such a dialog.

To Pierre: But be sure to add the Remember the Answer checkbox!!!! :( ....details here: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=28197
